Angel Church, a new welcoming for catholic people
The Angel Church is located in the sub-urban of HoChiMinh city. The core brief was to create a significant, welcoming and relevant church facility from an existing area. The building was to reflect this idea through large dome architecture, stone material and interior space.
the outward appearance to present an alive and happening community open to all with main angel statue. As you enter the site you are taken through the landscape past the building and then returned to it, creating a dramatic sense of procession. The huge space interiors provide a peaceful haven in a relatively bleak outer urban context.
Natural light and limited patina of materials and colours creates a sense of calm. The cost and value outcome decisions made throughout the design, documentation and construction phases allowed the total project to be completed within the pre-determined cost budget.
